Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is sacred to the aboriginal people of the area. The monolith has rich indigenous history and myths and legends surrounding it that go back thousands of years. The area around the formation has ancient paintings, rock caves, springs and waterholes and is known to give off a reddish pink hue in the sunlight.
